Modeling Component based Simulation

This  paper  describes  the  development  of  a generic  simulation  tool  (FORMAT)  that  uses modular building constructs to create imulation models  of  the  transport  of  stock  from  internal stores  to  delivery  points  located  around  engine machining  and
 assembly  lines.    The  model  is automatically  built  in  a  WITNESS  shell containing a CAD factory layout displayed as the  background.  All data is imported from an Excel user  interface, with key simulation reports being exported  back  to  the  same  interface.  Externally held, re-usable “modules” are employed to speed up  model  development  and  improve  model reliability.
